The 2023 Scitech Challenge Day provided our students with a valuable opportunity to represent Wheatbelt PEAC in a friendly competition where they developed and applied their 21st Century Skills to solve a real-world problems. Thoughtfully designed by Scitech’s team of STEM educators, the Challenge Day expanded on the students’ existing knowledge. Students worked in teams, using design thinking principles to address real-world issues.

The event emphasised interdisciplinary skills and attracted students interested in STEM subjects and those keen on learning through exploration, collaboration, and hands-on experiences.

This was a particularly remarkable year for our Wheatbelt PEAC students, with approximately 50 students taking part in this year’s Scitech challenge. This marked our largest participation in this STEM brainstorm challenge to date. Our students were divided into teams of four and put their STEM skills to the test against teams from Mid-West, Kalgoorlie, Warren-Blackwood, and Caladenia Primary School. Our students had a great time and effectively applied their STEM knowledge, securing the top two awards in this year’s challenge. Congratulations to the two teams who gave their utmost effort and brought pride to the Wheatbelt education region.
